Thank you for coming to speak today for Midnite Sun and Cruise, I learned alot from you, and I will continue to do what you said. I had a great time and it was very fun and interesting. I never knew how hard it was to target women, and now I understand!

Every December I send out a hand written christmas cards to all my hostesses from the past year that says something like, Thank you for being a great business partner, it's fantastic women like you that make a difference in my life because it is true, without great hostesses I would not get so many referals and repeat customers. Nothing major, but a hand written thank you makes you feel nice.

Nope - I don't do anything in December because Kim taught me that when you give gifts in December you get lost in the Black Magic (crappy nasty cherry chocolate) vortex of the Christmas chaos.

Instead I give gifts at Thanksgiving and Halloween. My clients love it, never expect it and I am not competing with ANYONE ELSE!

Instead I get noticed for looking creative and brilliant for giving them a gift of Thanks. I love sending my clients a box of decadent Halloween cupcakes with a note saying 'Thank you for your business! Have a Spooktacular Halloween!'. I honestly giggle when I sign the card because the best gifts are UNEXPECTED!

Thanks Kim - this has been an invaluable lesson that I will use forever!

Great question! Love the comments I've read so far and looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

One website that I use all the time is http://www.thinkexist.com, an amazing database of quotations, searchable by author, topic, keyword, etc. Whether you're looking for a motivational quote to share with your customers or a humorous remark to jazz up an email, ThinkExist.com is a great resource.

Another site I find myself referring to frequently, especially when I'm looking for just the right wording on an email, is http://www.merriam-webster.com/, a combined dictionary and thesaurus that's very user-friendly.

Finally, Marcie Paige mentioned Google alerts. These can not only be used to track what's being said online about you/your business and other individuals/businesses, but also to track events that may provide good leads for sales calls. For example, our company produces a series of radio features that encourage people to shop locally, so I've set up a Google news alert for the phrase "shop local." Every day, I get headlines from across the country, letting me know which towns are working on shop local promotions. I can then call or email radio stations in these markets to let them know about our features. It makes for some very targeted selling, and conveys to prospects that I've taken some time to research their market.

The QR codes have been a fantastic conversation starter/foot in the door for me. I've only had a few takers, however, it gives me such credibility and almost without fail - the potential client leans in and, eyes wide starts asking questions! THAT, my friends is supah, dupah cool!
