Use My “Pucker Up Pie” Sales Trick & Recipe…

My friend Ann is a wonderful cook and baker and recently she had a table at a local farmer’s market.

She was so excited about doing this – her eyes sparkled with anticipation.  Her food causes people to moan with delight & she could hardly wait to share it.

I knew she was going to be working at the event all day so I offered to drop by and help her for a few hours. (Yes – I even put on a frilly apron!)

When I got to the market and walked to her table – I saw she had it attractively displayed, proper pricing and signage.  She had piles of fabulous lemon pies (made with the WHOLE LEMON – a recipe I shared with her from my friend Deb), pickled eggs (what can I say – it’s a Canadian thing!), gorgeous bread and all sorts of other goodies.

But when I asked Ann how her sales were going a dejected look swept across her face.

“Kim, my sales are terrible! I almost feel embarrassed!”

She said she wasn’t allowed to give samples and that had thrown her sales plan out the window.

I looked at her. I looked at her table loaded with amazing food. I slapped my frilly apron on and said…

“Well honey, we’re going to FIX THAT!”

All of her products are delicious, appealing to the eye but the lack of samples was hurting her. So I knew we had to change a few things.

Here’s what we’re going to do NOW Ann:

  • Your pies have a NEW name.  From now on – they are PUCKER UP PIES!
  • Beside the pickled eggs – I want a sign that says “MEN LOVE THESE.  GREAT WITH BEER!”
  • Stand in front of your booth and ask women especially– “Do you love lemon?”
  • Ask every man that walks by “Do you like beer?”

Ann whipped out new signage and I positioned myself in front of the table asking those 2 questions to men and women that walked by her table.

Every single person asked with a big smile…

“ What’s a Pucker Up Pie?”

I said…

“If you love lemon – this pie will make you MOAN WITH DELIGHT!”

Which made them crack up even more – and of course – they bought one, and bread and cookies…you get the drift.

The BEER SIGN attracted EVERY MAN who walked by especially since we asked them “Do you like BEER?”

Needless to say – she sold out of almost everything – the pies and pickled eggs were gone FIRST.

You probably have the right product or service but your marketing is DULL, DULL. DULL.

It’s time to create your OWN PUCKER UP PIE with your products and services.

Hey – if you want the REAL Pucker Up Pie recipe here it is!:

EASY BLENDER LEMON PIE

2 lemons – thin skins (I used sort of medium size lemons)
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 stick butter, melted

Take lemon, cut in quarters and take out seeds.

In BLENDER (not sure how it would work a food processor….my friend was specific that it shold be done in the blender:))…….Blend lemon (YES THE WHOLE LEMON – skins and all!:)), sugar and eggs until a fine puree.

Pour in melted butter and continue blending at high speed 1 to 2 minutes.

Pour into an 9 inch uncooked pie shell. (I took the easy way out and used a pre-made pie shell – the Pillsbury Red Box pie shells:))

Bake in 350 degree preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes or until center is set.

Top with whipped cream if desired.

This pie is not “pretty”….looks like an old fashioned chess pie or buttermilk pie….but if you love lemon pie you are going to go nuts over this!!:) It is SUPER EASY and BEYOND YUMMY!:)

Love from your Frilly, “Aproned” Sales Diva,

Kim
